Find Your Next Adventure at Balboa Park!

The Bristol San Diego – A Boutique Hotel is located near one of the best tourist attractions in San Diego, Balboa Park. I grew up going to Balboa Park almost every weekend, and it is something that our guests and locals alike can enjoy!

While some indoor activities remain closed due to COVID-19, there is still plenty to do and explore with extra safety measures in place:

1.       San Diego Zoo: We are extremely fortunate to have an outdoor, world famous zoo in our city! The San Diego Zoo has re-opened, ending the first major closure in their 103-year history. We are so glad the zoo is “roaring back”! Guests can once again experience wildlife with their families, visit diverse habitats, and take part in fun activities that bring people closer to our animal friends. The zoo is currently operating at limited capacity to help with social distancing and to keep it a safe experience for all. For more information and to check if there are wait times, please visit: https://zoo.sandiegozoo.org/reopen

2.       Picnics: Enjoy the outdoors in nine designated lawn areas that are open from 12pm – 8pm daily. Pack your lunch, wine, and appreciate the San Diego sunshine!

a.       Botanical Building East Lawn

b.       Botanical Building West Lawn

c.       Federal Building Lawn

d.       House of Public Relations Lawn

e.       International Lawn

f.        Mall Lawn

g.       Moreton Bay Fig Lawn

h.       Pan American Plaza Lawn

i.         Recital Hall Lawn

3.       Japanese Friendship Garden: This popular garden has also recently re-opened to the public with modified hours from 10:00am to 6:00pm. Visit the Koi Pond or the lovely Kannon Bosatsu (lower garden). The Japanese Friendship Garden is an expression of friendship between San Diego and its sister city, Yokohama. The Tea Pavilion is also open if you feel like a treat! Beautiful and serene, this is a great outdoor place to take in our natural surroundings. 4.       Morley Field Dog Park: If you are staying at our hotel with your pet, this dog park is a great option to give your furry family member some exercise. Dogs love to play at this large and open dog park! This dog park also provides easy access to the Florida Canyon Nature Trails, which dogs can explore with their owners, when back on leash.
