The Gaslamp Quarter and Little Italy have opened more patio
dining to spread out amid the coronavirus pandemic. The goal is to offer more
dining to patrons while maintain social distancing. Both neighborhoods are
walking distance from The Bristol Hotel.
Little Italy was the first in the area to implement this new
al fresco dining experience by shutting down part of India Street the past
couple of weekends. About 20 restaurants in the area have extended their patios
from 4:00pm – 10:00pm on Saturday’s. The Little Italy Association hopes to
expand the program soon to include 15 additional restaurants and adding Friday
nights as well.
Gaslamp Quarter followed suit last weekend by shutting down
a stretch of Fifth Avenue to allow bars and restaurants to extend their outdoor
spaces onto the sidewalks and pavement. Running Thursday through Saturday’s,
the curbside dining program could continue until the end of the year, and
eventually include dozens of restaurants.
